Coccho Comeback Planned

Frank Coccho announces run to return as Mayor of Corning. Here's the press release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 5, 2009 Frank Coccho Announces Candidacy for Corning Mayor Corning, NY - Former Corning Mayor and long-time City Council member Frank Coccho today announced his candidacy for the office of Mayor in the November 3, 2009 general election. Mr. Coccho is running because he continues to have the desire to serve and help improve the City of Corning, where he was born and raised. In his announcement, Mr. Coccho commented, “This year’s contest for Mayor should not be Republicans vs. Democrats. This election should be about who is more qualified and committed to helping make our community a better place to live.” Reflecting on his tenure as Mayor from 2006 -2008, Frank cites his approachability, extensive community involvement and responsiveness as key measures of his ability to serve the public. Above all, he takes pride in stressing the importance of Corning citizens’ health, safety and quality of life. While in office, he worked hard to advance infrastructure upgrades, improve services and minimize tax increases. Accountability and compliance with the City Charter, Council Rules, and NYS Open Government Laws have been and continue to be high priorities for Frank. In addition to his history of public service, Mr. Coccho also supports and volunteers for local not-for-profit agencies. If elected Mayor, Mr. Coccho stresses as priorities for action the repair and regular maintenance of the city’s roads; an extended scope of emergency responders’ responsibilities for improved citizen health and safety; the enactment of sensible alternate side parking regulations, and severe penalties for contractors that hire undocumented workers on jobs funded by City grants. In addition, he will continue to encourage improvements to the city’s public spaces. Mr. Coccho remarked, “In a nutshell, I love this city, and will do everything I can to improve the health, safety, security and convenience of its residents.” # # #
