CORNING -- Customers of Corning Natural Gas could see a higher utility bill if the state Public Service Commission approves a rate hike.
Corning Natural Gas is proposing a rate hike in order to increase annual revenues by $1.5 million. The PSC is reviewing the proposal, which would affect rates beginning September 1, 2009.
If approved, a typical residential customer in Corning would see a seven percent increase in their bill; that's about $101 a year. In September 2010, CNG is also proposing adding a surcharge.
Corning Natural Gas serves about 14,000 customers in Steuben County and the Elmira area.
