ELMIRA-- In this economic climate you don't usually hear about businesses hiring. But on Monday the Economic Opportunity Program in Elmira held a job fair, hoping to find more than 20 new employees. EOP is hoping looking to fill various positions like teachers, classroom aides, energy service installers and accountants. They're all full-time jobs with benefits. People got to talk to hiring directors to see if they're a good match for the positions at the fair. The positions were vacant for a while, but now the EOP is ready to fill them with locals in need of a paycheck. “You know the community needs a boost and we need the employees. We have a lot of services that the community can take advantage of and we put it all together and had a job fair,” said Keith Vaughan, the EOP Human Resource Director. “It's interesting, I've had a bit of difficulty finding a job, when i see job openings i usually can't jump at them fast enough,” said Michael Houghton, of Horseheads. Vaughan says they're anticipating filling all the positions with Monday's applicants.
