HORSEHEADS -- A fire tore through a house in Horseheads a little after 3 p.m. Friday.
There is no indication yet of the cause of the fire at 416 Steuben Street.
A family of five lived at the house. Three of them were there at the time and escaped uninjured, although two firefighters were later taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to Horseheads Fire Chief Arthur Sullivan.
One of the firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion and one complained of respiratory problems.
The Red Cross will provide immediate assistance to the family for tonight. Sullivan also said the family had insurance on the house, which will have to be replaced.
