ELMIRA-- The Chemung County Health Department has scheduled three H1N1 (swine flu) vaccination clinics for Elmira City School District elementary school students who returned their mandatory consent forms to school. All three vaccination clinics will take place at the Chemung County Health Department, located at 103 Washington St., Elmira. All H1N1 vaccines are free of charge. Middle-and high-schoolers who returned their consent forms will be vaccinated at a later date.
Thursday, Nov. 19, from 3-8 p.m. This clinic is for elementary students from Beecher, Parley Coburn, Diven and Riverside elementary schools who returned their consent forms. Students from these schools should try to come at these times: • Beecher: 3-4:30 p.m. (Busing at school will begin at 4 p.m.) • Coburn: 4 p.m. • Diven: 5:30 p.m. • Riverside: 6:30 p.m. Parents are free to transport their children to and from the clinics themselves. However, the school district also will provide busing between your child’s school and the Health Department. Buses will start running 15 minutes before the school’s designated start time, and will continue shuttling people between school and the clinic site until all eligible students are vaccinated. A parent or guardian must accompany a student on the bus, and no other siblings/children without consent forms will be permitted to ride with them. There will be many families taking advantage of this transportation, so please be considerate and be prepared to wait for others.
