HORSEHEADS-- Nearly 1,200 Horseheads school kids got the H1N1 vaccine Wednesday evening.
Kids and parents lined up outside the middle school, waiting for their turn.
Parents could choose whether their children got a shot or nasal spray. The families were asked to hang out for a few minutes before heading home to ensure no one had a bad reaction.
Parents we talked with say they're relieved their children finally have the vaccine.
“Well, we figured if they get sick it's probably going to be way more painful than going through this and this was actually a way more smooth experience. It went well and we're happy about it and we just hope they don't get sick throughout the season,” said Mirca Despa, Horseheads.
“I was a little bit nervous but i thought it was easy,” said Derek Panaski, a student at Gardner Road Elementary School.
Families tell us they were in and out fairly quickly, considering the number of people.
