WASHINGTON--- Thousands of local homeless programs across the country received funding to help with operations.
Funds come from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Some Southern Tier agencies got money. Several groups in Steuben, Chemung, and Schuyler Counties got a about$1 million. Tompkins Community Action in Tompkins County got about $144,00
Right now cold temperature means there is a greater need for shelters. Grants will give housing to the homeless. It also helps to pay for other services like, job training, health care, and substance-abuse treatment,
