ELMIRA---Outside of a Chemung County Chamber of Commerce forum Friday morning, some members from Citizens for Healthy Communities held signs opposing drilling into the Marcellus Shale.
Friday’s forum focused on the potential for drilling in New York once approval for it is given by the state. The group wanted to make sure their concerns were not forgotten inside the forum. The organization has serious concerns on the impact gas drilling will have on the environment. A major concern they have is where the waste fluid from fracking will go.
“There’s many many questions and that why we are here we are here to pose those questions,” says group member Dave Walczak.
A number of organizations have formed statewide opposing drilling in New York.
