Traffic Assistant

WENY and Lilly Broadcasting is seeking a highly motivated Traffic Assistant.  This position will be responsible for coordinating, entering, monitoring and maintaining program logs.  Position enters broadcast sales orders for commercial contracts and promotional commercials.  This includes continuity, copy, and clearance of the daily program logs.  Ability to provide separation for conflicting advertisers and inventory usage in the trafficking system is necessary. Frontloading logs to insure maximum inventory usage.  Coordinate with Account Executives to assure proper traffic scheduling.  This position provides additional support to other departments as needed.  Position will become second shift (3pm 11pm) but training will be provided during daytime hours (9am 5pm).

Candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills.  Applicant should be comfortable in a fast paced multiple deadline environment with rapidly changing priorities and a high volume of projects.  Individual must be a team player with strong initiative, work ethic, and ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Provide the willingness to work overtime with short notice.  Possess the ability to navigate using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Experience in broadcast television/sales traffic preferred.  Prefer 3 years + experience in fast paced, interactive office environment or combination of education and experience equivalent to degree.  Knowledge of Wide Orbit Traffic system a plus.

Morning Show Producer/Co-Anchor

WENY News has an opening for producer and co-anchor for its one hour morning newscast. The right candidate should have an on-air presence suitable for morning news, have strong news judgment and writing skills, the ability to work with limited supervision, and is able to handle deadline pressure and last-minute changes.

We are looking for the right person to join our energetic team and continue to grow our popular morning newscast. Our show also incorporates social media, in the form of in-show videos and posts on the station Facebook page and Twitter. A solid understanding of social media in a professional setting is necessary.

The position also includes reporting responsibilities - the right candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to operate as a one-person band, to shoot and edit video when necessary.

Prior news producing experience is preferred. ENPS knowledge is a bonus.

Senior Lead Engineer

Lilly Broadcasting has an opening for a full-time Senior Lead Engineer located in Horseheads, NY.

The Broadcast Engineer operates, maintains, updates and repairs hardware and systems used for broadcasting and local news production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains all broadcast technology and equipment for the station.
Maintains and installs the IT network, switches, data backups, work stations, laptops and printers. Maintains all News gathering field gear and editing equipment.
Maintain RF, satellite and fiber transport equipment
Purchase and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies with approval from Lilly Broadcasting Management.
Install wiring and equipment for new systems based on standards set by Lilly Broadcasting.
Communicates with members of the engineering team and other departments and Lilly Hub Stations to effectively resolve equipment and system issues.
Maintains over the air transmitter which includes compliance with all FCC guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills:
Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, Information Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Proficiency with computers, Master Control Automation, Windows7, SQL12, and Cisco Networking
Experience with video cameras, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems, and editing systems.
Familiarity with digital transmitters, microwave equipment, satellite antennas /receivers and other broadcast-related equipment.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be able and willing to work different shifts in emergency situations and be flexible with schedule
May require some travel to remote locations including, microwave receive sites, fiber hub sites, cable headends and other locations.

We are looking for the right person to join our energetic team and continue to grow our evening newscasts. Our 11PM co-anchors share responsibilities of producing and reporting for the show each evening. WENY also prides itself on its social media presence, and incorporating that into shows to grow audiences on both TV and digital platforms.

The right candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to operate as a one-person band, and edit video when necessary. Prior producing experience is preferred. ENPS knowledge is a bonus, but not required.
