Corning Salvation Army Thanks Volunteers
During National Salvation Army Awareness Week, the Corning chapter thanks their generous volunteers.
CORNING (WENY) -- The volunteers of the Corning Salvation Army work year-round to help the people of the Southern Tier.
But Thursday night was about them.
Around 50 volunteers gathered in Corning for food, drinks, cake and a heartfelt thanks from Salvation Army Captain John Merchant. Corning Mayor Rich Negri also stopped by to share his appreciation.
A lot of people know the Salvation Army for their efforts during the holidays, but volunteers help out 365 days a year, at the food pantry, soup kitchen, and after-school program.
