Horseheads (WENY) - Anti-fracking chants could be heard up and down the road near the Talisman headquarters in Horseheads this morning. More than 100 protesters swarmed the Talisman property to bring a message to CEO John Manzoni. The goal was to bring awareness to legislators, citizens and businesses like talisman that they will not go away. Protest organizer Nell Gagnon says even if the DEC allows fracking their group plans to stop it at any cost.
“This is an issue of people fighting to protect their communities their livelihood the natural history of the land and their drinking water so that's what this is about. People fighting for people when cooperations are putting profit over people,” says Gagnon.
State police and the Chemung County Sheriffs deputies did show up, but no one was arrested. The protest was asked to move to public property.
