Arbor Plans To Move Headquarters
The old Foodmart could become the new headquarters for Arbor Housing and Development, a non-profit organization that could open the door for other businesses in the Twin Tiers.
It's been empty since 2006, but new plans are moving forward to revitalize the building with the help of local businesses. Arbor Housing and Development is behind the project and is under purchase contract with the current owner.
Arbor CEO Jeff Eaton said his company plans on using 15,000 square feet for their offices, and the rest is going to be leased to other commercial or retail businesses.
"It's good for South Corning, it's good for Corning," Eaton said. "It's a great neighborhood. It's a very busy street so anything we can do to bring to occupy that space and bring some other services or offices or retail there, I think is a win win for everybody."
The purchase contract is in the initial stages, but the parties involved hope to close the deal by October.
