27-year-old Daniel French of Elmira is charged with first degree robbery. He walked into Five Star Bank at 351 North Main Street, took out a knife, and demanded the teller give him money.
Police have not disclosed how much he stole, but were able to find him at the intersection of 3rd and Davis Streets because of the teller's description.
French has a criminal history, but authorities did not have details. He is being held in the Elmira Police Department lock up, and is expected to be arraigned in City Court.
