Body Found in Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca

Missing Manís Body Pulled from Inlet
ITHACA (WENY) -- Authorities recovered the body of an Ithaca man found in the Cayuga inlet Thursday morning. Ithaca police identified the body as 25 year old Brian Washington, Jr. of Ithaca; he was reported missing in late January.
Cornell rowers spotted Washington's body in the Cayuga inlet at Allen H. Treman State Park around 8:45 thi smorning. Washington's family reported him missing on January 30th - he hadn't been seen or heard from since.
A recovery team with the Ithaca Fire Department worked to remove the body from the water.
"It was a surface recovery, the body was on the surface of the water, we were able to secure it and bring it to shore," explained Lt. Tom Deis with the Ithaca Fire Department.
Police were able to identify Washington with ID they found in his clothes. The cause of death is under investigation; police are treating the case as a suspicious death, pending autopsy results.
