Schuyler County (WENY) - It's breast cancer awareness month, and a local foundation is doing their part to educate the community. Schuyler Hospital hosted an informational health night at its September Hill facility. The night focused on breast cancer awareness, but also other forms of cancer. Speakers talked about breast analysis and bladder control, and nurses gave free cholesterol and blood tests. Liz Ayers the Nurse Manager at September Hill says the facility does a lot of the same cancer screenings that big hospitals do.
“It's important for womens health its important to mens health and just getting the awareness that we're here that you don't have to go to a big facility to find something like that, and we're close to home,” says Ayers.
September Hill does a lot of genetic cancer screenings. Go to http://www.septemberhill.com/ find out if you qualify for a free mammogram.
