ITHACA (WENY) -- A Cornell University student and her mother were both taken to the hospital this evening, after a car-pedestrian accident in a campus parking lot.
Ithaca police say the 16 year old student and her mother were loading belongings in their Subaru SUV in the parking lot of Clara Dickson Hall. Across the lane, an 18 year old student lost control of his station wagon as he was backing out of his parking spot, and accelerated and hit both women and their SUV.
One of the victims was taken to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries to one leg. The other was taken to Cayuga Medical Center with less serious injuries.
The investigation into the accident continues; no tickets have been issued.
