Chemung County Fair Preview

Chemung Co. Fair Almost Ready

Horseheads (WENY) -- The 170th annual Chemung County Fair kicks off tomorrow and runs through Sunday.

They're finishing set-up today at the Chemung County Fairgrounds. The fair has amusement park rides, a monster truck show, tractor pull, bull riding, the demolition derby, and of course, lots of food.

Animal exhibits include goats, llamas, cows, chickens, ducks and horses. There's a free lion and tiger show and a concert from country singer Josh Turner.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children, and kids five and under are free.

"Really, for the economy, that's one of the things that we look at and say OK, what is the fair doing for the economy?" said Treasurer Kermit Bossard. "When you've got 40,000 people coming through the gates, that's a big big help for the economy."

Tomorrow is Senior Citizen and Veteran's Appreciation Day at the fairgrounds, so people 60 and over get free admission. Things kick off at 10 a.m.
