ITHACA, NY (WENY)---Ithaca's Cayuga Medical Center is the safest hospital in the Empire State. That's according to a study released by Consumer reports magazine this week.

Cayuga Medical received 61 points out of 100--the highest in the state, beating out more than 118 hospitals across New York.

C.M.C.'s score comes from patient satisfaction, low readmission rates and low infection rates---there were zero last year. The Ithaca hospital sees more than 150,000 patients a year. 30,000 of those patients visit the hospital through the emergency room.
