Misha Checkovich, a Massachusetts native and history major, is running on the Republican ticket to represent Ithaca's fourth ward.

Incumbent Eddie Rooker, a Democrat, recently announced he is resigning from his position as fourth ward councilman. That leaves his seat empty for one year of his four year term.

Checkovich will face off against Democratic nominee Stephen J. Smith on November 6th.
