Corning Memorial Day Parade
May 28, 2012
CORNING (WENY) -- Hundreds lined Corning's Market Street on Memorial Day to honor the brave men and women who serve and have served our country. The annual parade ran from Bridge to Wall street on Monday.
Besides the hundreds of families in attendance, local politicians, the Corning West High marching band and of course veterans marched the half mile route. Parade goers say when they think about Memorial Day, they think about family and the invaluable gift of freedom.
"It's special because it honors all the ones who have passed fighting for our freedom," said Charles Fales who served in the U.S. Navy for five years.
"A soldier who is watching right now, I'd have to say thank you for serving our country and we really appreciate it a lot," says 13-year-old Cheyenne Palmer.
