BREAKING NEWS: ELMIRA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A REPORTED ARMED ROBBERY AT THE FINGER LAKES HEALTHCARE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION ON HART STREET IN ELMIRA.
ACCORDING TO SCANNER REPORTS, TWO BLACK MEN WEARING MASKS AND JACKETS SHOWED HANDGUNS DURING THE ROBBERY.
SUSPECT 1 IS DESCRIBED AS A BLACK MALE, WEARING AN ORANGE MASK AND A GREEN HUNTING JACKET. SUSPECT 2 IS DESCRIBED AS A BLACK MALE, WEARING A BLACK MASK AND BLACK JACKET.
THEY MAY BE DRIVING A FOUR-DOOR SILVER CAR.
Store Owner Beat up and Robbed
ELMIRA HEIGHTS (WENY)---A Chemung County Business owner was allegedly beat up in his store over the weekend.
Elmira Heights Police say it happened Saturday at Double Play Sports Cards on East 14th Street in Elmira Heights around 1 in the afternoon.
Robert Comfort, 35, of Horseheads allegedly entered the store, beat up the owner and stole money. Comfort took off and was later arrested at his home on Virginia Avenue.
He was sent to the Chemung County jail on $20,000 dollars bail.
The owner of the store, Stephen Shoemaker, suffered minor injuries.
