Eric Smith Parole Hearing Postponed
ALBANY (WENY) -- A Steuben County man who killed a four year old Savona boy in 1993 will remain in prison, for now.
A parole hearing scheduled for today for 32-year-old Eric Smith was postponed until next month. Smith is serving nine years to life for for second degree murder, for killing Derrick Robie in 1993, when Smith was 13 years old.
A Department of Corrections spokesperson tells WENY TV News the parole board needs more time to review outside materials submitted to Smith's records. Smith's been denied parole five times since 2002 - he's eligible every two years.
