Everyday Hero Celebration
Teachers and staff from each of the 14 high schools in the region nominated students for academic achievement and community service. Five students from each school received plaques and savings bonds. They were also all entered into a drawing to win $1,000.
"I'm honored that they thought I stood out so much," said recipient Caetlyn de Oliveira, from Twin Tiers Christian Academy. "I just hope that my classmates agree with me and see me as someone they can look to in any situation."
First Heritage has been honoring "Everyday Heroes" for seven years now.
