More Than 1,000 Jobs In Jeopardy At Ski Resort
CORTLAND, NY (WENY)---More than 1,000 jobs are in jeopardy at the Greek Peak Ski Resort in Cortland. Now, Senator Chuck Schumer is asking the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation--also known as the FDIC to expedite a loan review.
The problems at Greek Peak began last winter when a lack of snowfall led to a slow ski season. Then, earlier this year, Greek Peak's primary lending bank failed. the resort needs additional financing to keep its doors open until next winter.
On Monday, Senator Schumer will be at Greek Peak to urge the FDIC to expedite a loan review.
He says without the money, the popular ski destination will have to shut down and more than 1,000 people will lose their jobs.
