Hammond Lake (WENY) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a warning about boating on Hammond lake in Tioga Pennsylvania. The water level is very low due to the lack of rainfall in the region. Boaters and water skiers need to be aware of underwater objects that are now closer to the surface and dangerous. Mark Simonis Chief Park ranger says, the Lake's Ives Run Boat launch is closed and warns boaters of low water dangers.
“So we're always looking out for the visitor safety and we want to caution them about those low levels and possible safety hazards that weren't there before the levels dropped.”
Boaters need to stay within the designated channels to avoid running aground.
