Second Hydrilla Treatment Begins Next Week
ITHACA (WENY)---Tompkins County is moving forward with a second treatment to stop the spread of hydrilla.
The invasive water plant kills fish and clogs boat lanes.
Experts worry it will spread throughout the state and into the Great Lakes.
The plant is being treated with Endothal, it's the same treatment used back in October.
The Cayuga inlet will be closed from June 26th to the 27th during the application period.
Then, from July to October, a Fluridone treatment will be used to kill the entire plant, including the roots.
You can learn more about hydrilla and the treatments tonight from 7 to 9 at the Ithaca Youth Bureau Gym.
