BREAKING NEWS: NATURAL GAS MAIN LEAK IN WOODHULL

AT APPROXIMATELY 8:00 P.M. STEUBEN COUNTY 911 CENTER RECEIVED A CALL OF
A NATURAL GAS LEAK IN THE TOWN OF WOODHULL.  WOODHULL FIRE DEPARTMENT
WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE.  UPON THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S ARRIVAL THEY
IDENTIFIED A NATURAL GAS LINE RUPTURE NEAR 417 JUST OUTSIDE THE HAMLET
OF WOODHULL.  AT THIS TIME, THE GAS COMPANY HAS CONTROLLED THE LEAK AND
ARE CONTINUING TO MONITOR THE SITUATION.  LOCAL  FIRE DEPARTMENTS ALONG
WITH STATE POLICE, STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE  AND NEW YORK STATE
DOT HAVE CLOSED NEW YORK STATE  ROUTE 417 FROM COUNTY ROUTE 81 TO COUNTY
ROUTE 101.  LOCAL RESIDENTS WERE EVACUATED IN A TWO MILE RADIUS FROM THE
SCENE AND WERE SENT TO THE ADDISON AND JASPER SCHOOLS FOR SHELTERING.
THE RED CROSS IS ASSISTING WITH EVACUATION.
 

AT THIS TIME THE SITUATION APPEARS TO BE STABILIZED AND LOCAL OFFICIALS
ARE WORKING WITH GAS COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES TO CONTINUE TO SECURE THE
SCENE.  AT THIS TIME IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT RESIDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO
RETURN TO THEIR HOMES THIS EVENING.  ADDITIONAL MEDIA INFORMATION WILL
BE PROVIDED AS NEW INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE .

9:30pm UPDATE

BREAKING NEWS: WE HAVE BREAKING NEWS OUT OF STEUBEN COUNTY THIS EVENING.

EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SAY THERE'S BEEN A NATURAL GAS MAIN BREAK IN THE WOODHULL.

THE AREA IS BEING EVACUATED WITHIN A TWO MILE RADIUS FROM THE CENTER OF TOWN.

IF YOU LIVE IN WOODHULL, OFFICIALS ARE ENCOURAGING YOU LEAVE YOUR HOME IMMEDIATELY, AND HEAD TO THE SCHOOLS IN ADDISON OR JASPER.

WE HAVE A REPORTER HEADED TO THE SCENE, AND WILL CONTINUE TO BRING THE LATEST INFORMATION AS WE GET IT.
