HORSEHEADS (WENY)-- The Chemung County Fairgrounds in Horseheads got a makeover this week for the 43rd annual Old MacDonald's Farm and Farm City Day. It's open through Saturday, and features cows, ducks, bunnies, goats, an old times museum and even a fake cow for children to milk. Family events are scheduled for Saturday, and through the week, hundreds of local elementary school kids are stopping by on field trips to learn hands on about agriculture.

They will learn about how agriculture influences their lives with seven 25 minute stations. They'll spend the day with us, they'll learn about animals, they'll learn about plants, and they'll learn about their role in sustaining agriculture.

"They will learn about how agriculture influences their lives with seven 25 minute stations," says Elaine Noble, a 4H educator. "They'll spend the day with us, they'll learn about animals, they'll learn about plants, and they'll learn about their role in sustaining agriculture."

"This is the first time in pre-K that we've been able to go out there outside of the school building to actually have hands on experience and learn the background of the animals," says Katy Mathers with Pine City Elementary. "They really enjoy the museum next door they were taught a lot of lessons there about how we lived in the past."

You can visit Old MacDonald's Farm from 3-7 weekdays.  Farm City Day will be held from 10 to 3 this Saturday.  Admission is free.
