Promoting Fire Safety

BIG FLATS (WENY) --  Big Flats firefighters were at Target on Wednesday, not to battle a blaze, but to help raise awareness about fire safety.  They came out as a part of the "29th Annual National Night Out", sponsored by Target and the National Association of Town Watch.

The firefighters handed out goodie bags filled with firefighter themed toys and information, and of course kids got their own helmet.  The goal is to help promote fire safety and readiness.

"It's very important every year to continually renew in everybody's minds how important fire prevention is and the things you can learn about," says Lt. Laurie Lathrop with the Big Flats Fire Dept.  "Keep it refreshed in the children mind and the parents minds so they can always plan their escape route and their safe meeting place."
