County Lawmaker Guilty of Gambling Charges
OWEGO, NY (WENY) -- A Tioga County legislator is guilty of acting as a bookie for gambling.
A jury convicted 81-year-old Andrew Quinlan on six counts of promoting gambling, and one count of possession of gambling documents. He's scheduled for sentencing in September, and faces a maximum of four years in prison.
It's not Quinlan's first brush with the law - he was convicted of gambling charges in 1984 and spent four months in jail.
Quinlan is currently the fifth district legislator for Tioga County, and former Waverly mayor.
