Red Cross Responds To Three Fires

ELMIRA, NY (WENY)---Local Red Cross volunteers were busy this weekend, responding to three fires.

Two adults in Cohocton were provided shelter, food and clothing by the Sullivan Trail and Greater Stebuen chapters. A second fire in Howard, Steuben County, left a family-- two adults and one child homeless after their house was destroyed.

The third fire at two apartments on Scottwood Avenue, Elmira Heights occurred early Sunday morning. The Red Cross provided two adults with food and clothing.

The Red Cross tell us, since January, they've seen a sharp increase in fires--assisting more than 150 individuals. They want to remind you to prepare for disasters.
