Rep. Reed Weighs In on Colorado Shooting
SOUTHERN TIER (WENY)  --   Much of the country is still stunned after last's devastating shooting in Colorado, and many are questioning the nation's gun control policies.  Congressman Tom Reed called the theater shooting a tragedy, but says he's not in favor of imposing gun regulations or infringing on people's second amendment rights.

On Friday, 24-year-old James Holmes opened fire on a theater full of people, killing 12 and injuring more than 50.  Reed says any sort of regulation that could have prevented the tragedy still needs to be questioned.

"Saying that somehow taking away our constitutional freedom is somehow going to further protect us, I don't think is something we are going to support," says Reed.  "But we need to be vigilant."

The congressman does support notifying authorities if you see suspicious behavior, and says raised public awareness is critical in keeping situations like this from happening in the future.
