Ithaca Gets Half of Storm Project Relief Grants
Written By: Laura Caso
ITHACA (WENY)---Some local counties are getting over 26 million dollars in flood grants and half of that is going to one city.
37 projects are getting funded and Ithaca is getting 13 million dollars of the pot.
Binghamton is getting 1.9 in grants and Elmira is getting the third largest share at 1.5 million dollars.
According to our media partner The Star Gazette, Ithaca plans to dredge the Cayuga inlet, remove built-up sediment that limits boating access and inlet's ability to handle heavy water from storms.
As we've reported, the city is also getting another state grant of @800,000 dollars to stop the growing hydrilla issue- an invasive plant in the inlet.
