Southern Tier (WENY) - Governor Andrew Cuomo has very high approval ratings, but what will happen if he allows hydrofracking test sites? The governor signed a continuation an executive order on his first day in office. That order states that he will allow the DEC to complete its review of Hydraulic fracturing.WENY Tv political analyst, Jim Twombly of Elmira College, says the governor may be looking into test sites because he could be feeling the pressure from both sides of the issue, and, If Cuomo allows "test" hydrofracking sites, it could be a dangerous political move.
“Typical political struggle between what a large number of voters want verses what moneyed interests appear to want politicians often need to make that balance,” says Twombly.
The governors office has not confirmed any plans for test wells.
