Anonymous Donors Pledge to match $25,000 in donations

Tompkins Co. SPCA Donation Challenge

ITHACA (WENY) -- Your generosity could pay off in a big way for a local animal shelter.

The Tompkins County SPCA says two anonymous donors have agreed to match donations up to $25,000 each. SPCA Executive Director Jim Bouderau says the challenge couldn't have come at a better time - this time of year, donations typically drop while more people bring animals into the shelter. And due to this year's warm winter, kitten season is getting an early start.

Bouderau says these funds can go a long way towards needed upgrades and improvements at the shelter - and every donation counts, no matter how small.

"The beauty about this match is that is whether it's a dollar or 500 dollars, no matter what the amount is, these two people will match it dollar for dollar," Bouderau says.

The match challenge runs through the end of May. You can donate online at, or mailing a check to the SPCA at 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. Donations can also be made in person at the shelter or at the Annex at the Shops at Ithaca Mall, or over the phone at 607-257-1822 x232.
