NWS Confirms EF-1 Tornadoes Hit Southern Tier

     ELMIRA (WENY) -- The National Weather Service sent a survey team to the area Friday, confirming two tornadoes did touch down in the Southern Tier yesterday.
     Early this afternoon, the NWS confirmed a strong EF-1 tornado touched down in Elmira, traveling for ten miles. The twister touched down beginning in Harris Hill Manor, and tracking east.
     Preliminary reports also confirm an EF-1 tornado about five miles southwest of Corning, in Lindley. A path of damage there was left near Ryers Creek Road and Route 73.
     Straight line wind damage is also reported in Barton, near Waverly, and a third EF-1 is reported in Montrose, Pennsylvania, which is in Susquehanna County.
