United Way Campaign With Wegmans
Southern Tier (WENY) -- Shoppers at local Wegmans can support United Way of the Southern Tier when they pay for their groceries.
United Way is partnering with the food store on a customer scanning campaign. It's aimed at raising money for laid off workers and their families, as well as other people in financial need. From October 6th through the 20th, people can donate during checkout at Wegmans in Elmira, Corning and Hornell.
"With the recent announcement that Sikorsky is going to be letting go nearly 600 employees, we know that all of our partner agencies are going to be under increased pressure to meet a growing demand," said Steve Hughes of United Way. "The United Way community campaign and our partnership with Wegmans and many others allows us to be in a position to better respond to those increase in needs."
