Update on Chemung House Fire

Chemung (WENY) -- A town of Chemung home went up in flames today around 3:30 p.m. on McDowell Road, and the Chemung County Sheriff's Office confirms multiple deaths. Sheriff Christopher Moss says the investigation into the deaths are in the initial states.

He would not confirm how many people were killed in the fire, but did say names are being withheld pending notification of family members.

As we reported earlier tonight, five engines responded on-scene at 2131 McDowell Road. Firefighters broke windows and doors to let the heavy smoke escape, and it took them two hours to put out the blaze.

The chief told WENY-TV earlier that the cause of the fire was being investigated.
