Waverly Man Charged With Menacing Officer
WAVERLY, NY (WENY)---A Waverly man is charged with menancing a police officer he allegedly failed to follow police orders to put down a sledgehammer he was wielding.
Police say, Thomas Comstock was arrested shortly before 10 Saturday night after Waverly police responded to a call of a man with an axe trying to break into 16 Charles Street in Waverly.
When police showed up, Comstock was found to have forced his way into his own home and refused to put the sledgehammer down. Once Comstock finally put the weapon down, police say he tried to stop officers from arresting him.
Comstock was sent to Tioga County (NY) jail. Bail is set at $2,500.
