Cortaca 2013 Chaos Could Lead to Next Year

November 20, 2013
Cortland (WENY) - Well despite the rampage from fans and the damage that followed, Cortland's most famous game is still on for next year, at least for now.

Cortland City's Common council turned down a motion to ban the annual Cortaca Jug Game yesterday. Cortland's streets were trashed and about 80 people were arrested on Saturday after the Colleges football team beat Ithaca.

Council members did approve a resolution to create a study group made up of city officials and leaders from SUNY Cortland. The 55-year tradition is still unsteady after last weekend's events of partying and destruction. Cortland officials said they want to hear what the committee finds out before making any decisions about the game's future.
