Stores May Have Toxic Products

Twin Tiers (WENY) - Ten national big box stores are under the microscope this morning and health officials are asking the major retailers to clear their shelves of products containing hazardous chemicals. A national campaign is launching today asking retailers like Wal-Mart, Best-buy, Lowe's Target and Walgreens to get rid of over 100 plus chemicals used in hundreds maybe even thousands of products sitting on store shelves. Some of those products...wrinkle-free clothes, vinyl flooring, shampoos, sofa cushions and food packaging. Good News some stores have already acted. In 2007, Target and the parent company of Sears and Kmart announced plans to join Wal-Mart in phasing out polyvinyl chloride from products.
