Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act
WASHINGTON D.C.--[WENY]--Congress has passed legislation to help increase employment among at-risk youth.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will help restart federal job training programs.
The bill, sponsored by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, is aimed at those who have dropped out of high school or have been subject to the criminal justice process.
Funding is supposed to go towards educational programming, such as reading and math remediation, internships, on-the-job training, and personal development.
The bill now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.
