BATH (WENY) - An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in the case of a recent Bath Haverling graduate, who police say was killed Saturday night in a one-car accident in the Town of Bath.
18-year-old Nikolas Tillinghast was traveling alone in his Chevy S-10 pickup truck on Bonny Hill Road when he failed to stop at an intersection. the truck struck a guard rail before becoming airborne. Police say it then struck a pole off the roadway and came to rest in a culvert off the west shoulder of Windfall Road.
The Bath Volunteer Fire Department extricated the teen from his vehicle. He was transported to Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police do believe excessive speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
