$25M Coming to NYS for Opioid Addiction Treatment and Recovery
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WENY) -- Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand announced more than $25M in federal funding to fight the opioid epidemic across New York State.
The funding will be used to support prevention, treatment, and recovery programs.
The money is a part of what's called the "21st Century Cures Act".
This money is the first part of a two round funding plan.
According to the CDC, more than 33,000 people died from opioid related overdoses in 2015.
