Annual New Year’s 4 Mile Run

BIG FLATS (WENY) -- While some of us are spending the day recovering after ringing in the new year with a night of partying, Southern Tier runners laced up their sneakers and followed through with some resolutions.
Dozens came out for the annual New Year's 4 mile run/walk in Big Flats.
"I was actually doing the holiday running streak every day from Thanksgiving to New Year's. This was the culmination and tomorrow I'm taking the day off," Kristin Butler.
Kristen joins many runners in the Southern Tier going on a running streak during the holidays, from a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot to the Jingle Bell run on Christmas Eve. Today, the frigid temperature didn't stop these runners from hitting the 4 mile mark.
"It feels great, the weather was perfect for running actually and I was able to set a personal record," said Butler.
For Bryce and Jim Derick it's a family event. They crossed the finish line first, with a time of about 25 minutes.
"I decided to do this just for fun and just training for the USATF Junior Olympics," said Bryce.
They say it was a great way to kick off their new year. Many other runners agree.
