Update: Robbery Suspect Arrested

   THURSDAY UPDATE:  Police Make Arrest.  Tioga County deputies responded to a reported robbery at CVS in Owego Wednesday night.  Invesigators report the suspect was leaving the store when deputies arrived, pulled a knife on the deputies, who subdued him after a foot chase.  Suspect currently in the hospital with a broken arm. Police say it's the same guy who hit Maurices in Big Flats and Dark Tan in Corning Tuesday night. 
    The suspect is identified as 62-year-old year old John Malowsky of Attica, a registered level 3 sex offender and was released from prison in November 2012.

   WEDNESDAY UPDATE:  Investigators released surveillance video of the man suspected in to robberies at knifepoint Tuesday night. Corning Police say the man come into Dark Tan salon wearing a ski mask and robbed an employee at knifepoint, then left with cash. State police think it's the same guy who robbed Maurices in Big Flats Commons about 45 minutes later. The robber threatened employees with a knife, and according to scanner reports, forced two employees into a back room. He's described as 5'8" tall, with olive skin, possibly Italian or Hispanic, with an glasses and an earring in his left ear.  He may be driving a 1999-2004 light colored Jeep Grand Cherokee.      BIG FLATS, NY (WENY) -- Police are searching for a man who may be involved in two armed robberies in the Southern Tier Tuesday evening.
      Corning police confirm one of the robberies happened at Dark Tan on Pulteney Street in Corning just before 8PM; scanners report another robbery at Maurices in Big Flats around 9PM. Police won't confirm if the two robberies might be related.
     According to scanner reports, the suspect is described as a white male with a moustache, wearing glasses, a ski mask, blue puffy jacket and jeans, and an earring in his left ear. He's described as 5'8" tall, with an average build. He reportedly followed an employee of Maurices behind the counter and demanded cash, before fleeing the store with approximately $900. The weapon involved was a silver knife with a 12 inch blade. 
       Police aren't giving us any information at this time; we'll bring you the latest information as we get it.
