Avoca Student Arrested for Drugs, Gun
AVOCA, NY (WENY) -- A Steuben County teenager is in jail, accused of bringing drugs and a gun on school property.
Eighteen year-old Alec Bowen of Avoca is charged with one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, a School Resource Officer at the Avoca Central School District was looking into reports of students smoking on school grounds. The officer discovered Bowen allegedly had several capsules of a controlled substance, and a gun hidden in the cab of his pickup truck parked in the school parking lot.
Bowen was taken off school property and arrested. He's now in the Steuben County jail on $10,000 cash bail.
