(WENY) -  With school only a week away, most parents are finishing up the last of their back to school shopping.
Every year those lists getting a little longer, increasing how much parents are spending. According to the National Retail Federation, the average parent will spend around $670 dollars per student on things such as, school supplies, clothing and shoes. But these days, some more obscure items are making their way onto school supply lists. Such as headphones, hand sanitizer, and even white board markers - for the teacher. Even as the lists grow, some parents say the supplies are necessary. The NRF says due to increasing demands from school districts, spending is up for families as they buy items to stock their kids' classrooms.
