BATH -- [WENY] Former prisoners of war and their families gathered at the Bath V-A today to honor their service, and remember the people who never made it home. Each P.O.W. received a flower to honor their service and sacrifice. A soldier placed a wreath to honor the fallen. The "missing man" table sat noticeably empty as a tribute to the Americans who died or are still listed a missing in action. Today is National P.O.W. and M.I.A. Recognition Day.
Bruce Tucker, a Social Work Executive with the Bath VA Medical Center said, "It's important to recognize those who serve our country, those who have given up their freedom for our freedom, and this is our opportunity today to do that."
Bob Nobles, a WWII Prisoner of War said, "It's an honor to the ones who fought in the war, we appreciate it."
According to the Department of Defense, more than 83,000 troops are still missing in action.
