’Caught Shopping Local’ Campaign Kickoff
The fun just doesn't seem to stop for Corning. Friday morning, the Gaffer District announced the kick-off of a new campaign for local shoppers.
Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning's Gaffer District says, "Don't be surprised if you're carrying a bag around after just making a purchase, and someone comes up and gives you a $5 gift certificate to keep on shopping. It's that simple."
It's called the 'Caught Shopping Local' Campaign, and it's geared to getting customers started early on their Holiday shopping. Participating businesses are giving away over 300 gift certificates to shoppers.
The campaign is the brain-child of Pam Weachock, Co-owner of Market Street Tea and Coffee, who says 'caught shopping local' is a grassroots movement. She says, "We really appreciate our customers down here. The people who live around here support us. And so we all got together and decided we wanted to thank them. So, next week we will be randomly giving out well over 400 $5.00 gift certificates."
On shopping locally, Rochele Locey, Owner of Mint Velvet Vintage says, "It's important to shop local and drive money back into the community. For every dollar that you spend, a lot more of it comes back locally, then if you were gonna spend at a national brand."
